A Hearthstone company - serving Staten Island, NY

HeatShield Fireplace Services Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

HeatShield Fireplace Services in Staten Island: What to Know First

As an independent HeatShield service provider, we repair, service, and restore HeatShield fireplaces and chimney systems across Staten Island. Most HeatShield jobs are diagnosed and completed in a single visit, with upfront pricing agreed before we start. We’re not going to sell you a full liner replacement when a targeted firebox repair or damper adjustment will do the job.

How HeatShield Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Cerfractory Foam lining degradation in the S.F. (Smoke Chamber) system. The Cerfractory Foam used in HeatShield’s smoke chamber restoration can develop hairline checking after 8-12 years of thermal cycling, especially in Staten Island’s coastal climate where salt air accelerates surface oxidation. We see this most often in Tottenville and Great Kills homes with original HeatShield installations from the early 2010s. Our fix: we camera-inspect to confirm the foam substrate is still sound, then apply a compatible HeatShield-compatible resurfacing using professional-grade materials - not a patch, but a proper rebuild of the seal.
  • HeatShield UL lining system delamination at the flue collar. The UL-listed poured liner can separate from the metal flue collar where it meets the appliance adapter, creating a gap that leaks combustion gases into the smoke chamber. This shows up on camera as a dark ring at the transition. We remove the failed section, prep the collar with a compatible bonding agent, and reinstall using OEM-specified procedures so the warranty stays intact.
  • JointShield gap sealant failure in factory-built fireplace retrofits. JointShield is designed to seal mortar joints in tile-lined flues, but in Staten Island’s freeze-thaw cycles, the acrylic sealant can pull away from spalled terracotta edges. We don’t just re-caulk. We grind back to sound substrate, assess whether the underlying tile needs stabilization, then reapply JointShield or recommend a Gelco liner sleeve if the tile is too far gone.
  • HeatShield damper hardware corrosion. The original equipment dampers on some HeatShield fireplace insert systems use a galvanized steel linkage that rusts solid after years of humid Staten Island shoulder seasons. We’ve freed enough of these to know when a linkage rebuild is worth it and when the whole damper assembly needs replacement with a compatible unit from our Famco or Copperfield inventory.
  • Firebox refractory panel cracking in HeatShield-compatible prefab units. Not every cracked panel needs replacement. We use camera inspection and thermal imaging to determine whether a crack is cosmetic or whether it’s opened a path for combustion gases to reach the metal wrapper. If it’s the latter, we source the correct replacement panel by model number - no “close enough” substitutes that void your remaining coverage.

Our HeatShield Fireplace Services Process

  1. 1
Call and schedule. A live person answers at (516) 613-3035, any hour. We book a window that works for you, not a four-hour guessing game.
  2. 2
Level-2 camera inspection. Our technician arrives in uniform, background-checked, and runs a full camera inspection of your HeatShield system. You see the photos on the screen. We explain what we’re looking at in plain English - no jargon, no scare tactics.
  3. 3
Diagnosis and parts decision. We identify whether your repair needs OEM HeatShield materials or whether a quality aftermarket solution from our DuraFlex, Gelco, or Copperfield inventory will perform as well or better. We’ll tell you which we’re recommending and why.
  4. 4
Upfront pricing and approval. You get a written estimate with one number. That’s the number on the invoice. No surprises, no “while we were in there” add-ons.
  5. 5
The repair and live testing. Most HeatShield repairs are completed in a single visit. We test the system under operating conditions before we pack up.
  6. 6
Documentation and guarantee. You receive photos of the completed work, a written summary, and our 90-Day Done Right Promise - in writing, no arguing. If it’s not right, we come back.

What HeatShield Fireplace Services Costs in Staten Island

These are real ranges for HeatShield work we’ve performed in Staten Island homes, from Westerleigh to Annadale:

Service Typical Range
Smoke chamber Cerfractory Foam repair (S.F. system) $1,200 - $2,400
UL liner collar reseal / localized delamination repair $800 - $1,600
JointSeal gap treatment (single flue, up to 25 ft) $600 - $1,100
Damper linkage rebuild or replacement $350 - $850
Firebox refractory panel replacement (per panel) $450 - $900
Full Level-2 inspection with camera and photo report $289 - $389

What moves the price: accessibility of the flue, extent of material degradation, whether the original installation paperwork is available (helps us confirm the exact HeatShield system spec), and whether we need to coordinate with a roofer for chimney access. Our $89 Seasonal Tune-Up can catch developing issues before they become expensive repairs.

Why Staten Island Homeowners Call Hearthstone Chimney Co. for HeatShield Work

We’ve been servicing Staten Island homes for well over a decade, including older masonry fireboxes in the Tottenville area that have seen generations of hard winters. Russell Haines and our crew know the difference between a HeatShield S.F. system and a UL liner, and we know which repairs keep your warranty valid and which don’t matter anymore.

Our 90-Day Done Right Promise means if it’s not right, we make it right - in writing, no arguing. Calls are answered by a live person 24/7, not a callback queue. Our technicians are background-checked, uniformed, and carry the professional-grade materials to finish most jobs in one visit. And if your HeatShield system needs a component we don’t stock, our relationships with DuraFlex, Gelco, and other trusted brands mean we can source the right part fast, not substitute with whatever’s on the truck.

If the chimney’s sound, we’ll say so. If it isn’t, you’ll hear that too.
